January 11, 2010: With the new RESPA rules from HUD in effect, Akridge & Balch is prepared with all information needed by lenders to complete the Good Faith Estimate form, and to provide borrowers with other provider information.  The new RESPA rule changes the HUD-1 Settlement Statement form and imposes additional disclosure requirements on lenders.

November 17, 2009: Akridge & Balch provides seminar for lenders and real estate professionals on the new HUD rules under the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, and new Federal Reserve Board rules under the Truth in Lending Act and the Mortgage Disclosure Improvement Act.

October 1, 2008: Casey Huddleston Corley joins the firm as an associate attorney, practicing in the areas of civil litigation, domestic relations, and general practice.

August 18, 2008: Robin M. Weyant becomes an associate, with primary concentration in property-related matters.

August 1, 2008: Casey Huddleston Corley, J.D., joins the firm as full-time law clerk, while awaiting bar exam results.

July 31, 2008: Robert H. Cochran retires from the active practice of law to accept a teaching position at Auburn University. Mr. Cochran remains of counsel to the firm.

April 28, 2008: Akidge & Balch relocates to its new building at 852 North Dean Road in Auburn.

March 2008: Eagles West Apartments sold to Capstone Development in Birmingham for more than $10 million. Akridge & Balch represented the seller, and provided title and closing services for the transaction.

August 27, 2007: Amber Shae Ford joins Akridge & Balch as our new receptionist and client service specialist. Julie Smith receives promotion to Legal Assistant.

August 20, 2007: Casey Huddleston, who interned with Akridge & Balch during the summer joins the firm as a Law Clerk. Casey is a law student at Faulkner University with her Third-Year Practice Card which allows her to provide certain legal services under Attorney supervision and with client consent.

July 2007: Multi-state student housing developer acquires property for apartment complex in Troy, Alabama. Akridge & Balch acted as counsel to the developer, assisted in assembly of multiple parcels, provided title examination, and conducted the closings.

February 2007: Cindy Prater completes the Auburn University Paralegal Certificate Course and receives her Paralegal Certification.

January 2007: Akridge & Balch acts as closing and title agent, and lender's counsel in Section 504 SBA loan transaction.

September 5, 2006: John E. Searcy, Jr. joins Akridge & Balch, P.C. as an associate attorney. Mr. Searcy was most recently law clerk to Hon. W. Keith Watkins, U.S. District Judge, Middle District of Alabama.

August 2006: Village East Self Storage sold to RPM Meadowbrook Storage, LLC. Akridge & Balch, P.C. represented the purchaser, and provided title and closing services.

2005-2006: National Shopping Center Developer utilizes credit facility with Alabama financial institution for acquisition and construction projects. Akridge & Balch, P.C. is counsel to the lender.

2006: Automotive Parts Manufacturer restructures $275 Million debt. Akridge & Balch, P.C. acted as Mississippi counsel for the Borrower.

July 22, 2005: Commercial Developer 98 Palms, Ltd. leverages Destin, Florida property to facilitate purchase of hotel property. Akridge & Balch, P.C. represented the Lender in this transaction.

July 13, 2005: Pick Rentals sells five apartment properties in Auburn to AB Partnership, LLC. Akridge & Balch, P.C. represented the purchaser and provided title and closing services to the Lender.

May 5, 2005: Magnolia Plaza, a mixed residential-commercial-retail property in downtown Auburn, is sold to RPM/Magnolia Plaza, LLC. Akridge & Balch, P.C. represented the purchaser and is providing assistance to the purchaser in conversion of the property to condominiums.
